Victory Programs

Your recovery is broken up into four sections. As you master the skills and requirements of each phase, you’ll move on to the next. While living in the home, you’ll be active in the community. Furthermore, Stepping Stones connects residents with resources proven to sustain long-term abstinence, often referred to as recovery capital. This includes job placement, transportation, food support, access to mental health care, and social support with like-minded friends.

We place great emphasis on the concept of group accountability. It is at the core of our model as it both fosters personal responsibility and allows the house to function orderly. Our recovery homes foster independence – house expenses in the form of “rent” are paid by residents. This covers utilities, drug testing, and the housing itself.

These recovery meetings are open to all same-sex houses and residents are encouraged to invite their sponsors. This is also a forum where alumni often visit and give their stories or offer to sponsor a newcomer. When you join Stepping Stones, you are becoming part of a large recovery network. By design our homes are warm, welcoming and safe, nurturing our recovery family. The relationships that are formed are strong and often continue after residents leave Stepping Stones. Our mission is to provide safe, supportive sober living communities for those in recovery.

Dual Diagnosis and MAT HOUSING

Using this experience, Callan decided to organize a more structured living situation for himselfand his newly sober friends. The basic rules of the house would center on accountability,sponsorship, meeting schedules, and house rules. If people wanted to follow these rules theycould be his roommates. Callan also thought it better to include only men, having observed thatthe co-ed living environment is not always ideal for those in early recovery. Mental health and substance abuse are often intermingled. We offer case management and outpatient services through local providers such as Wellstone and grant programs to ensure long-term recovery.

Stepping Stones Sober Living

Over the next few years, Callan saw his passion for helping others in recovery grow into anetwork of 8 sober houses for men and women, where he continues to work and carry themessage of recovery. Stepping Stones homes promote community, recovery, and peer support. Our goal is to provide a built-in network of persons with positive healthy behaviors to encourage one another.

After they are promoted, pass requests are reviewed by the Community Coordinator. Stepping Stones provides sober housing for men who desire to change their lives through 12-step based recovery. Stepping Stones staff work closely with new residents and support the needs of all housing units. Each house  democratically elects a house president, who assists with leading meetings, intake of new residents, and reporting to Stepping Stones staff in the case of an issue. They are trusted servants who have a vested interest in the smooth functioning of the housing environment. Each home has weekly meetings including a house business meeting where practical issues are discussed such as chores and any behavior that may be disruptive to the house. Additionally, there are two recovery-oriented meetings including a 12-Step group and a literature study.

Levels of Care

When a resident first enters our community, we expect them to focus on their recovery, forming relationships with their housemates, and attaining gainful employment. For the first days, all residents are on Level 1 which means they cannot Review Victory Programs take a pass and have a 9 pm curfew.

What stood out to me about them is that they focus on helping each other. You become part of a supportive community that helps each other reach recovery goals. For instance, you might need to do chores in teams or on your own. That way, you get back into a regular routine as you prepare to live independently. You’ll have access to bus passes and clothing if you’re in need.

Sober living is a residential environment where individuals recovering from addiction to alcohol and drugs can live in community with like-minded housemates. To that end, the residence is alcohol and drug free and each house member participates in its upkeep and operation. As housemates, they support each other in recovery and hold each other accountable in attending to daily chores and obligations. In 2002, Callan opened a second branch of that houseand ran both residences as sober houses. He moved into the new house to guide and support thenew roommates and hired a house manager for the original residence.

Alcoholism

Stepping Stones operates several homes in Huntsville, dedicated to promoting recovery and community through peer support. Our goal is to provide a built-in network of persons engaged in a lifestyle that promotes sobriety. Stepping Stones Recovery Homes is to empower individuals by providing safe, and supportive, transitional housing for those seeking stability, whether it’s a fresh start or another attempt at it. Our goal is to help residents rebuild their lives and achieve long-term success, independence, and hope.

Drug Detox

These phases are tied to milestones as the resident progresses in his recovery program. We offer listings of temporary housing for low income persons. Stepping Stones has zero tolerance for residents using in our homes and will ask residents to leave the house who don’t adhere to the rules outlined in their lodger agreement. At Stepping Stones we charge $675 – $750 per month for rent as well as a one-time $25 admin fee.

You’ll live with other guys who’re working on their recovery. Approaching 90 days alcohol free and found myself homeless. Trying very hard to avoid temptation to go drink or do whatever I can find. Stepping Stones provides job placement and support. Coaching, resume development, mock interviews, skill assessments; are all components of a new residents’ job search strategy. – Stepping Stones  has a community food pantry. Otherwise residents are responsible for their own food needs. Each resident is drug tested at least once per week for a wide array of substances. In addition, residents rooms are searched regularly for substances and other paraphernalia.
